Quick scrap placemats. Cut strips from complementary fabrics in
different widths. Lay them together diagonally (overlapping slightly)
on a large piece of stabilizer or heavy fabric and either zigzag or
decorative stitch them together. Use as is or put an embroidery
design in the corner. Cut to desired shape and put right sides
together with a piece of backing fabric. Turn and top stitch.
