"Babushka Dolls" also known as matryoshka dolls, are nesting
dolls carved from wood that originated in Russia. When
separated, doll after doll, each smaller, yet different than
it's outward counterpart, will be found within; The first
nesting doll set of this nature, was carved in 1890 by Vasily
Zvyozdochkin, based off a design by folk craft painter Sergey
Malyutin, who painted the first set, and the rest is history!
