Beginners Tip-
Pinning your Seams - Lay the pieces of fabric on a flat surface and line up the edges of the fabric. Place the pins perpendicular to the edge of the fabric, keeping the pins further back than where the seam stitching will be. Never sew over the pins, this could damage your machine! Keep lining up the edges of the fabric and placing the pins for the entire length of the seam. If the the fabric lays flat but the ends don't match up check your measurements and cuts.
